I despise hate and ignorance. Being WOKE and a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I consider it my responsibility to help fight hate and ignorance. The pieces in this collection are my way of doing that.
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines WOKE as being aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice). That’s all it means. Being WOKE is NOT a bad thing. It’s what we all should aspire too.
The colors and symbols within the PROUD portion of the pieces are the same used in LGBTQ+ pride flags. Like the flags, these pieces are intended as symbols of community, visibility, unity, diversity, and inspiration.

WOKE AND PROUD (PHILADELPHIA PRIDE)
This piece contains the colors of the LGBTQ+ community’s Philadelphia Pride Flag. In 2017, the Philadelphia Pride Flag was created by adding two new stripes, brown and black, to the Rainbow Pride Flag. The black and brown stripes represent the Black and Latino communities and were included to call attention to concerns affecting LGBTIA+ people of color.
