Since the 1970’s, researchers from the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies (CEPS) have actively published in a variety of publications. Numerous papers presenting research results end up in major journals and conference proceedings. They’ve published several books as well.
While working for CEPS, I performed the following in support of CEPS Publications:
- Sorted and created a filing system for their reprints.
- Answered reprint requests, received via the mail, recording each transaction.
- Created a searchable, publications database.
- Scanned and digitized over 150 papers and book chapters, saving them as Adobe Acrobat pdfs.
- Restored damaged and yellowed papers digitally with Adobe Photoshop.
- Created a digital publication archive.
- Labelled and boxed reprints for storage.
- Answered publication requests, received via email, recording each transaction.
- Submitted publication citations to Smithsonian Research Online.
- Submitted pdfs to the Smithsonian Libraries Digital Repository.
- Collaborated with Smithsonian Institution Libraries and the National Air and Space Museum Librarian.
- Provided publication information in quarterly Scholarly Activity Reports to the CEPS department chair.
